Blair Rudes, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor of English

The English Department deeply mourns the unexpected passing of Dr. Blair Rudes. The memorial service for Dr. Blair A. Rudes was held on Tuesday, April 1 from 4 to 6 p.m. in The Rowe Theater, 130 Rowe Arts Building. Areas of Interest

- Language revitalization, Lexicography, Descriptive linguistics, Native American languages (Catawba, Cherokee, Quiripi, Pequot, Powhatan, Tuscarora), American Indian history of the Carolinas and New England before and at Contact
- A three volume work in progress will provide a descriptive grammar, dictionary, and collection of analyzed texts in the Catawba language.
- A second work in progress is an etymological dictionary of the Powhatan (a.k.a. Virginia Algonquian) language.
