The M.A. Exam

Department of English offers a Master of Arts degree
with a choice of 5 emphases or concentrations. You must
choose an emphasis or concentration before you complete
9 hours of coursework. Emphases and concentrations include:

To be awarded a Master of Arts in English, you must
successfully complete thirty-six (36) credit hours with
or without writing a thesis. You must also pass a comprehensive
exam based on the reading list of your selected area
of emphasis or concentration.
Be sure to submit all the required information for
admission by the appropriate deadlines—generally at
least a month before the term in which you hope to begin
taking courses. Graduate assistantships and other forms
of financial aid are available.
