Requirements
- 21 hours of core English courses
- Juvenile Literature (Engl. 6103)
- 12 additional hours of course work related to children's literature (No more than 3 of the 36 hours may be taken outside the English Department.)
- Core Courses for the M.A. (21 hours)
- ENGL 6101 Introduction to English Studies
- ENGL 6160 introduction to English Language in literature (not children's literature)
- 1 elective
Children's Literature Concentration
15 hours selected from the following options:
- ENGL 6103 Juvenile Literature (required)
- ENGL 6104 Major Figures in Children's Literature
- ENGL 5102 Classics in British Children's Literature
- ENGL 5103 Classics in American Children's Literature
- ENGL 5104 Multiculturalism and Children's Literature
- ENGL 5050 Topics in English (if it relates to children's literature)
- ENGL 6070 Topics Course (if it relates to children's literature)
- ENGL 6890 Directed Reading (if it relates to children's literature)
ENGL 6996 Thesis (Students writing a thesis about children's literature can earn 6 hours that they may apply to the 15 hours for the concentration)
