Internships
General Information
Internships provide students opportunities for experience
in a wide range of work-place settings. All English
majors are encouraged to participate in an internship
experience, and students enrolled in any of our Technical/Professional
Writing Programs are required to complete an internship.
Internship opportunities are available with a variety
of corporate, non-profit, and government agencies. Our
site list provides a list of
places where our students have had successful internship
experiences in the past. Each semester, we get inquiries
from additional employers, and add those to the list.
But you are not limited to this list.
Approach the internship search just as you would a
job search, with a clear idea of the kind of language-based
work you would like to do (browsing the list will help).
Have an updated resume ready, references identified,
and with the help of the internship coordinator, approach
the prospective internship supervisor about an interview.
Frequently asked questions
gives answers to those questions most asked including
how to apply for an internship and how to choose a location.
Additional information can be obtained from the Internship
Coordinator .
